The Bible clearly teaches that one must be born again to enter heaven. We must understand that Jesus came here to die in our place, as a sacrifice for the sins that have been, and will be committed. If we believe that he has done this, and ask him to forgive our sins and become our savior, we will be saved. Read this passage from the book of John:
2: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Jesus also added this:
7: Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Jesus told us that we were all sinners, every one of us. Read the following from Romans 3:
23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
So how does one get saved? Read the following from the book of John 3:
15: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
And read this from Romans 10:
13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Can we find examples of people being saved in this manner from the Bible? Read Acts 16:
26: And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. 27: And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28: But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29: Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30: And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31: And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Why should we be saved? Read Mark 8:
36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Can we work our way to Heaven? Read Ephesians 2:
9:Not of works, lest any man should boast.
So what does the Bible say about hell? Read the following story about a man who went to hell from Luke 16:
19: There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21: And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22: And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23: And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24: And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25: But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26: And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27: Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29: Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30: And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Hell is not a fun place where the devil and you will be partying and having a good time. It is eternal, with absolutely no way out. The only thing on this mans mind was trying to get the word about hell to his family so they wouldnt make the same mistake that he did.
