This is the fossil that disturbed me the greatest as I discovered its true history, mainly because as a child I remember being taught that this man looked like a crossover between man and ape. The problem is that science has known since the 50's that this was not so. Read now about Neanderthal mans colorful past.....

In 1908 a rather complete skeleton of the Neanderthal type was discovered in the floor of a small cave in France. Marcellin Boule, a famous Paleontologist, was called upon to reconstruct the skeleton, which was the most complete Neanderthal skeleton in Western Europe at that time.

Boule already had preconceived ideas of evolution guiding him through the reconstruction.

Although there was evidence that the vertebrae were severely deformed because of arthritis or rickets, Boule decided to ignore all pathological evidence.

He "placed" the head in an unbalanced position on the neck, thrust far forward, so that the individual would have sprained his neck looking skyward.

Boule also "decided" that the man could not extend his legs fully, but walked with a bent-knee gait.

Boule "made" the foot only slightly arched, resting on it's outer edge, toes pointing in, hence the man would have walked like an ape.

Boule also "formed" a wide separation between the big toe and other toes, making the big toe like an opposable thumb monkeys and apes have.

This twisted, unscientific view of Neanderthal man has dominated the world.

44 years later William L Straus re-examined the bones and immediately recognized serious problems with the reconstruction.

This study revealed that the Neanderthal man stood erect, and walked normally as modern humans.

Keep in mind the correction happened over 40 years ago, yet many people still believe that Neanderthal man is evidence of evolution.

Until just recently you could walk into any school and find the caveman like picture of Neanderthal man in school books.

Why wasn't a campaign to correct this view launched 40 years ago?

The Museum of Natural History must have thrown the old bones away right? Think again...

They moved the old display up to the floor with the dinosaurs and placed a sign that reads "Alternate View of Neanderthal Man" on it. Now more children then ever see this, and believe it.

Why did it take 44 years to correct the mistake, and why after an additional 40 years are we still not totally informed?

Simple......

Because these fossils are the ONLY evidence that evolutionists have showing we evolved from ape. If it were to be discredited, then their entire theory would collapse.
